Coachella Recap

So I was planning to write this post sooner, but I've been so busy these past few weeks, so here it is, for your listening pleasure... the best of Coachella 2013!

Having been my first time at the festival, I was of course very excited, and although I could not bring any detachable-lens cameras on the grounds, I tried to capture as much as I could with our smart phones to share with all of you! :-)The best way I could describe Coachella is that it is the Disneyland of music festivals. Upon entering the festival grounds, you’re greeted by an array of large animated robots (like a giant snail, mechanic praying mantis, and a life-size humanoid robot you can converse and interact with), a spectacle of grand art pieces, and numerous musical artists among a series of stages and tents. At night, palms are lit up from below with colorful, iridescent lights, the giant mechanical snail shell glows as it roams the park, and the famous Coachella Ferris-wheel and surrounding DJ/dance tents are lit up.

For those of you who couldn’t make it out to the festival this year (have no regrets--you saved yourself money, crowds, sleep, and sweat haha) or for those of you who simply want to re-live the Coachella magic, here are a few playlists I put together. Enjoy! :)

Coachella Day 2 - Sahara

Here's the outfit I wore on the second day of Coachella; I'm wearing a white shealth dress from and leather necklace from Chycas Boutique. It wasn't until I got home I realized wearing white probably wasn't the wisest idea, seeing as my dress was a shade darker and covered in a light layer of dirt.. Oops! Despite the discoloration of my dress, I was definitely grateful I wore something lightweight and light in color to deflect some of the heat from the sun!

Heart of the Country

It's days like this when I enjoy the bright warmth of the sun against my face, the beauty of a dainty lady bug, and the yellow flowers of a field that make it seem as if the sun is growing out from the earth that I yearn to live in the country. For this look, I paired a denim vest and skirt, a white linen top, a little red and green scarf, and some brown boots to complete my country-inspired look.

Lapis Lazuli

The beautiful ultramarine color of Lapis Lazuli has been used in artwork throughout the ages and has been the inspiration point for many painters. A combination of it's extremely rich and vibrant color as well as the rarity of the precious stone from which it is extracted from only add to the admiration and beauty of the amazing artworks it has adorned. I love this dress because it almost captures the vibrant cobalt blue tone of Lapis Lazuli.
