Leather & Plaid

I had a great time the other day shooting with my friend fotophunk . Having not seen him since highschool, it was really cool to reconnect with an old friend and shoot some cool photos. For this look, I paired a favorite plaid & leather skirt of mine, with a leather jacket and heels.

Peach Blossom

Here are some more photos from my shoot with Antonio Maristela. I paired a peachy peplum dress with some golden floral jewelry, I just love playing with these Japanese umbrellas! :-)

Black Venom

I always love working with Ana because her and her team are so cool to work with, and she is such an amazing photographer and person. She's been taking photos for every day of the year and I can't wait to see what concept she comes up with next. I was lucky enough to work with her this January, when we did an underwater shoot, and also back in January of 2012 in my "Goodnight Moon" post. I look forward to working with her again and feel blessed to have such creative minds in my life. Be sure to check out her blog where you can see more of her amazing photos!  :-)

DRAGON TAMER

This week we explored the desert lands of Borrego Springs... All down the road there were larger-than-life sized figurines of prehistoric and mythical creatures. The sculptures were crafted by a talented artist by the name of Ricardo Breceda, who found a new talent and love in sculpting after a work injury.

I had so much fun posing with this amazing metal serpent ... To complete the "Dragon Tamer" look, I wore my knee-high black leather boots from ZARA, faux leather skirt from F21 (I just love the slits going up the leg), and red leather accessories and Black Ovi top from Chycas Boutique. I love the leather detailing on the shoulders of the top, as well as the snake-like pattern on the bracelet--it really mimicked the giant scales on the gargantuan 350 foot dragon.

A Day at the Museum

I enjoyed spending the day at one of our nearby museums of contemporary art. We took a few photos as we speculated and pondered each piece of artwork.

I liked how the two red and black pieces below matched the colors pallet of my sheath dress and necklace.

Above artwork by Chiara Banfi, 2012.
Medium: plywood, sheets of maple wood, polyester base, varnish.

My "contemplative" face? haha I don't know why I look so serious!
Sculpture by Niki de Saint Phalle and Larry Bell, 1998.
Medium: steel, polystyrene foam, polyurthane, automotive paint, electronic component, light bulbs, and iron base

Sculpture above by  Marcos Ramírez ERRE, 2003.
Medium: Aluminum, automotive paint, wood, vinyl

Hope you all had a lovely weekend! :-)

Un Bon Jour

It was a beautiful day yesterday that we spent in one of my favorite beach towns, eating ice cream and visiting cafes and museums. Here's a picture of the beautiful taupe dress I was wearing, from ChyCas boutique. I just love the pleating detail that stems from the neck all the way down the chest and waist.

Strawberries & Creme

I just LOVE the newest edition to my closet--these red and beige (or, "strawberries and crème" colored), strappy Italian heels by Lotus (I mean, what woman doesn't appreciate a good pair of Italian shoes?! ;-) I paired up the shoes with one of my favorite, simple beige dresses. I love dresses that are simplistic and classic in their detail--the slit down the back, and the collar that rises up to the neck are small but significant specifics that I love when it comes to simple dresses.

Spider's Web

When I first saw this top, I was enamored by the intricate detail of it's lacey design. It's complex detail and pattern remind me of that of a delicate Spider's Web (Hence the name of the blog post!). I got this top back when Bebe Sport's store "PH8" was still open and paired it up with a black body suit from Victoria's Secret, as well as some burgundy lipstick and nail polish for an edgier look.

Lapis Lazuli

The beautiful ultramarine color of Lapis Lazuli has been used in artwork throughout the ages and has been the inspiration point for many painters. A combination of it's extremely rich and vibrant color as well as the rarity of the precious stone from which it is extracted from only add to the admiration and beauty of the amazing artworks it has adorned. I love this dress because it almost captures the vibrant cobalt blue tone of Lapis Lazuli.

Rain or Shine...

I don't know what it is about yellow trench coats and matching yellow boots which provoke the child in me that has the urge to stomp around in puddles and dance in the rain... Seeing as we have yet to have a spring shower this week, I have yet to need an excuse to put these yellow boots and trench coat to use!

Hope you all had a lovely friday!! ;-)

Spanish Rose

I channeled the Spaniard in me through this look with red tones, rose accessories, and lots of lace! This has been one of my favorite outfits for the longest time because red is one of my favorite colors and I can't resist anything with a lovely lacey print...

Origins

This week I had the wonderful opportunity of working with the amazingly talented young photographer, Raul Romo. I'm wearing a nude-toned jumper by LUSH. I loved how the earth tone of the suit blended with the atmosphere of the sand and rocks.

You can see more of Raul's amazing work on his Facebook or Tumblr site :)

Under the Sea

My friend made this cool video of a few of our summer adventures thus far. You'll see our friends goofing off at the pool, and us snorkling in beautiful water with an array of fish! Hope you enjoy the video! :-)

Blue Jeans

Inspiration for this photo comes from Lana Del Rey's "Blue Jeans" (directed by Yoanne Lemoine). Below it are some pictures I took at the beach. I loved the salty breeze and each wave formation as they crashed against the glistening rocks.
