Salvation Mountain, Slab City

Today we took a spontaneous excursion to Salvation Mountain in Slab City. It is probably one of the most bizarre, yet wonderfully strange places I've visited in California so far, and as always, we had a lot of fun exploring. With the surrounding messages of love and peace, and the wide array of bright colors- pinks, reds, greens, and blues- I couldn't help but feeling like I was in some magical sort of Candy Land meets unicorns and rainbows. It was awesome, to say the least.

I don't think I'll be returning back to reality any time soon...

I had a great time the other day shooting with my friend fotophunk . Having not seen him since highschool, it was really cool to reconnect with an old friend and shoot some cool photos. For this look, I paired a favorite plaid & leather skirt of mine, with a leather jacket and heels.

Peach Blossom

Here are some more photos from my shoot with Antonio Maristela. I paired a peachy peplum dress with some golden floral jewelry, I just love playing with these Japanese umbrellas! :-)

Wandering Gypsy

Here are some more photos of my shoot with Antonio Maristela. He brought some cool props to play around with including this delicate sun umbrella that I chose to pair with this white lace dress I purchased when I was in Positano :)

Meet Me Where the Sky is Golden

A couple weeks ago we woke up before dawn to shoot with Antonio Maristela, of Star in the Sky Photography. Golden sun beams lit up the morning and the sun-lit scenery couldn't have been more appropriate for my scarlet & gold outfit. Antonio was really cool to work with, and I had so much fun playing with the sunlight and shadows cast on this dress.

Black Venom

I always love working with Ana because her and her team are so cool to work with, and she is such an amazing photographer and person. She's been taking photos for every day of the year and I can't wait to see what concept she comes up with next. I was lucky enough to work with her this January, when we did an underwater shoot, and also back in January of 2012 in my "Goodnight Moon" post. I look forward to working with her again and feel blessed to have such creative minds in my life. Be sure to check out her blog where you can see more of her amazing photos!  :-)

Ophelia

"This above all: to thine own self be true."

These photos were inspired by Sir John Everett Millais' painting "Ophelia," depicting the character Ophelia in Shakespeare's play, Hamlet just after she drowned in a river in Denmark. Despite the grim ending of Ophelia, I can't help but to be drawn to such beautiful, romantic, and flower-adorned images, especially when there is such a wonderfully elaborate back story.

Playlist of the Day: Miami Horror

I have some songs on repeat right now, and most of them are from Miami Horror. I dig them because they have a Neon Indian, meets Tesla Boy, meets Empire of the Sun kind of vibe and yet are still completely their own. Here are a few of my current favorites:

1. Imagination
2. Sometimes
3. I Look to You
4. Moon Theory
5. Summersun
6. Echoplex

Enjoy my little summer pumpkins xx

Blue Angel

I've always wanted to do an underwater photo-shoot, so when my talented friend Ana Becerra invited me to, of course I accepted the offer. Despite the freezing temperature of the water I had a blast, Ana's super cool to shoot with and it's always fun to act like a mermaid, ;-) The photos remind me of one of the lyrics to one my favorite songs by the Love Language, Blue Angel.

Blue angel, will we ever learn to swim? Remember to hold your breath 'till then.

Be sure to check out more of Ana's awesome work on her blog!

Black Swan

Exploring the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's Urban Light display, clad  in sequins and black feathers. I loved roaming through the display and exploring the city I grew up in with people that I love. I wore this dress for a New Year's Masquerade a friend and I hosted. (And in case you're wondering, yes, it is the same dress I wore in the post "Swanlike"--I loved the dress so much, I couldn't resist! ;-).

I hope you all had a wonderful new years! And I hope this year is one filled with love, joy, and lots of laughter for you! xx
