DRAGON TAMER

This week we explored the desert lands of Borrego Springs... All down the road there were larger-than-life sized figurines of prehistoric and mythical creatures. The sculptures were crafted by a talented artist by the name of Ricardo Breceda, who found a new talent and love in sculpting after a work injury.

I had so much fun posing with this amazing metal serpent ... To complete the "Dragon Tamer" look, I wore my knee-high black leather boots from ZARA, faux leather skirt from F21 (I just love the slits going up the leg), and red leather accessories and Black Ovi top from Chycas Boutique. I love the leather detailing on the shoulders of the top, as well as the snake-like pattern on the bracelet--it really mimicked the giant scales on the gargantuan 350 foot dragon.

RIDE

There's nothing quite like taking the day to hit the road and explore a new area--which is precisely what we did this week. Clad with converse, boyfriend -sized Letterman jacket, and levi shorts, I was ready for the adventures that lie ahead...

And to set the mood for hitting the road and riding till we find something worthwhile, Lana Del Rey's Ride.

Where the Wild Things Are...

One thing I love about dressing up is having fun in playing with contrasts: Black feminine lace mixed with tough leather and shiny combat boots makes me feel like a wild child. I'm ready to rock out and conquer the world with my Cyndi Lauper "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" dance-moves. (I mean that in complete seriousness).

Black lace dress by Jessica McClintock, faux leather gloves from Aldo, and black combat boots from (dare I say) Target!

Hope You're All Having a Lovely Week! ;-) xox

Sailor Girl

Sandpipers scurry along the ground, the salty air adds flavor to my lips, and a cool ocean breeze runs through my hair. There's the sound of waves crashing in the background as pelicans fly overhead and  seagulls call out to one another from a distance; this is why the sea will always be my favorite place to be...

For this playful look I'm wearing a sailor hat I got from amazon that makes me want to say things like, "Ay Ay Captain!" and "Anchors Aweigh!" a white dress from ChyCas Boutique, and little red loafers from H&M

"Pura Vida"

Days in Costa Rica consisted of breakfasts of Pinto Gallo with Lizano, relaxing at the beach, and exploring new colorful places.  Throughout our days we were greeted with warm smiles and native Costa Ricans sending out a friendly "Pura Vida," or "pure life." We visited a beachfront ranch and as a token of good hospitality were offered freshly cut coconuts right off of one of our hosts' trees. Mango juice, pina coladas, and the star-shaped carambola fruit were in abundance.  Here's one of the outfits I wore in Costa Rica. I love the vivacity of the colors and flowing shapes that mimic that of a tropical Costa-Rican flower. My multi-colored maxi dress and blown-glass accessories are from one of my favorite local stores, ChyCas Boutique :-)

And to match the laid back vibe of our days spent in the tropical Costa Rica, The Girl from Ipanema  by Astrud Gilberto , João Gilberto , and Stan Getz :-)
